3-year-old girl shoots 6-year-old boy after finding felon's gun

Okay, this story reads like one of those, "they-must-be-a-bunch-of-lowlifes-living-in-a-crackhouse" kinds of stories.

Seems this felon hid his .32 behind a stove, and a 3-year-old girl found it, took it into a room where two 6-year-old boys were playing, and pulled the trigger, striking the boy in the abdomen.

Read on. And check it out at the end: the moron mayor of Milwaukee BLAMES THE GUN, NOT THE SCUMBAG FELON WHO LEFT IT FOR A CHILD TO FIND.

MILWAUKEE -- A 6-year-old boy is recovering after being shot Tuesday night.

Milwaukee police said a 3-year-old girl found a gun inside a home near Teutonia Avenue and Chambers Street and pulled the trigger.

Investigators said the bullet hit the 6-year-old in the stomach.
A 32-year-old man who lives in the house told police he stores a loaded gun behind the stove and that the girl got a hold of it somehow and walked into a room where two 6-year-old boys were playing.

The gun accidentally fired, striking one of the 6-year-olds in the abdomen and bicep, police said.

<"The gun accidentally fired"?? How about, "The child, only 3-years-old and obviously not knowing what she was doing, [i]pulled the trigger"?! Guns do not just fire!>
According to police, the adults in the house fled with the exception of the 32-year-old man, who was arrested on charges of being a felon in possession of a firearm and leaving a loaded firearm within the reach of a child.

<Can you say, "House full of scumbags, felons, and people who probably would have been arrested on outstanding warrants if they'd stuck around"?

Police recovered the weapon -- a .32 caliber semiautomatic.

The mother of the 6-year-old who was shot baby sits for the 3-year-old. She claimed she was out for a walk at the time of the shooting, police said.

<So, was this lowlife woman babysitting, or going out for a walk to score some crack?>

The boy was taken to Children's Hospital and was in stable condition Wednesday morning.

Possible criminal charges could be filed but police have not been specific.

Police said they know the boy and girl are not related.

The Bureau of Milwaukee Child Welfare is also investigating.

Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett released a statement Wednesday afternoon on the shooting.

"It's despicable. It's sickening. A 6-year-old is lying in a hospital bed right now recovering from a gunshot wound he suffered at the hands of a 3-year-old. Why were these kids unattended at 10 at night? How did they have access to a gun, an illegal gun? We are talking about children here; children who are in very real, very immediate danger because of illegal guns. If this doesnít compel people to open their eyes to the epidemic of violence caused by illegal guns, I donít know what will," Barrett said.
Yeah, it's the guns alone causing this. In fact, why arrest anyone? Just take the gun away, melt it down, and that'll solve the problem! After all, no kids left unsupervised by adults have ever managed to kill each other when guns were not available!

How much you wanna bet the people in this house should all be in prison but are out for various soft-on-crime reasons, like parole, probation, etc.

Man, this stuff sickens me. The system lets people like this out, leaves them able to bring children into the world, obviously cannot control what they gain access to (Like where/how did the felon get his gun. Does he have a probation officer or anyone supposed to supervise him?), and then we blame GUNS?!
