Woman Strangles Raccoon After It Bites 5-Year-Old
Raccoon Attacks Boy; Adult Friend Kills It With Her Bare Hands
A raccoon attacked a 5-year-old boy who was walking in the woods with his mother’s friend and her children, Thursday, according to Animal Control.
The Wallingford Road resident pulled the raccoon off the boy, instructed the children to return to the house, and then strangled the raccoon with her bare hands before following the children back to the house.
A Cheshire police officer and Animal Control Officer April Leiler responded. They collected the raccoon and transported it to the state virology lab in Hartford, where the raccoon tested positive for rabies.
The boy and his mother's friend are being treated with post-exposure rabies vaccinations. Post-exposure vaccinations are highly effective but must be given before the onset of symptoms since there is no cure once symptoms emerge.
The name of the victim has yet to be released.

Don't hit at all if it is honorably possible to avoid hitting; but never hit soft!

People should not be afraid of the government; the government should be afraid of the people.
I didn't see in the article whether the state was going to appoint an attorney to file a civil suit for the racoon's immediate family. Sounds like wrongful death to me!!! LOL Seriously, strangling a 'coon to death with your bare hands. Whoa, watch for the mama bear when you mess with her cub.

When I used to shoot coons I found out,man those are one tuff critter....I certainly wouldn't want a tussle with one bar handed...they are all wheel drive with a grill full of sharp teeth!
Hope the folks turn out ok...
Outstanding! Although I'm beginning to worry with all the stories of wild animal strangulation.

Nice! I tell my wife if she needs to kill something and doesn't have any weapons to stomp it to death. Strangling works in a pinch though!
Mothers will do anything to protect their kids.
The normal ones anyway.

I find them in the middle of the night trying to get into my trashcans all the time, gun is just to noisy in a plat, maybe I'll hire this chick.
Steel toed boots do a good job if you want to teach them a lesson. Or you could get a spear...
I wish she had been around when I was attacked by a squirrel as a kid. Just goes to show that not all of the cute, cuddly little woodland creatures don't think of themselves as cute or cuddly and trying to pet them is a BAD idea.
~~~the biggest deficit of the general public is a lack of personal accountability.. I have no one to blame for my actions, regardless of circumstances, except myself and by the same token I can hold no one else responsible for my protection and well being other than myself~~~
The animal tested positive for rabies? Probably better to strangle it rather than shoot it and spread the contaminated blood product. My hat's off to that lady, but having a child myself and now a grandchild...I can see me strangling a threat to a child. I may hurt like heck the next day, but I could get it done.
A armed society is a polite society. Manners are good when one has to back it up with his life.
My wife was impressed when I told her this. I certainly would not want this woman annoyed at me!!
Imagine taking the throat of a Raccoon in both hands. What do you think the little bugger's legs are doing, all that time? My guess is that she's lost a good part of the muscles and skin on her forearms (at least). Coons may look cute, but they're fierce and built fairly heavy-duty. Can't imagine having one mad at me, holding it at arm's length like that. Good thing she didn't let go.
IM guessin she strangled it from behind, maybe even sat on it while doing so.
