It was combat between me and him. It went on for a week. He would hide in these wholes and take a look at me then duck away and disappear for days. I would wait patiently for hours with my spade ready to attack. I almost got him several times , but he was very crafty and would disappear into thin dirt. Then one sunny day as I was preparing for combat with him, I all of a sudden seen him just barely pop up. I took my weapon, a wood handle spade, stuck it in the ground, and I dug the enemy up and threw him to the ground and stabbed him with my spade. I haven't had any MOLES in my yard since.
