No MP3 for this old geezer - can't get on with something that takes away even part of my hearing potential!

Con yellow, ergo awareness is not IMO assisted by MP3 players. Mind you ... not much running these days LOL - but biking? I want to hear everything possible.

I don't really have a dedicated MP3 player but my phone (Blackberry 8100) has most of my MP3's on it (approximately 280 right now) and a movie (Monty Python and the Holy Grail) As for the type of music on there, it ranges all over the place, from the Braveheart soundtrack, to Norah Jones, to Cascada, to Stonesour.....no one has ever accused me of being single faceted.

Whats in there? Circuit boards, a couple of batterys, a diode or two, a few small wires. Its really not worth cracking open to take a look.

Quiet is one thing I don't necessarily like during work hours. I work alone for 9 hours a day in someone else's house. I need SOMETHING to keep me going. And the advantage to using the phone over a MP3 player is when I get a call, the music cuts out and the phone comes online.
(by the way, I do home remodeling with no employees other than myself)

I don't listen to anything while I run. Sometimes I recall old cadences in my head. My buddies that run with MP3 players can't imagine running in silence...somehow I manage. I go about 10 miles a week.

    When I'm jogging, I prefer an MP5.

exercising in the gym (running, lifting) - Kenny Wayne Shepherd, Kid Rock, Meat Loaf.

while at work (computer programming) with loud neighbors on speakerphone - new age musak without vocals.

While on the hog - I connect my MP3 to my radio - Alison Krause and bluegrass all the way.
