    Vindicated Again!

    Well, it happened again.

I was in the office, typing away, when suddenly I found myself typing by the light of my flat screen monitor. The power went out -- and it wasn't even storming. Most of the office area is internal, so there are no windows, and I noticed the emergency lights didn't kick on.

As it happens, one of the excellent little Countycomm.com slider-switch LED keychain lights was hanging around my neck attached to my ID badge. I turned that on and walked around with a surprising amount of blue-tinted LED illumination to accompany me. I gave another one, a red LED model, to Andy, who works near me.

I took the 4D Maglite that I keep in brackets mounted under my desk, unscrewed the light head, and place the shaft on my desk, where it served as a giant electric candle.

I found my boss sitting in her office stubbornly going through notes for a meeting with a dim conventional light; I gave her the much brighter NightCutter 5P I keep in a pouch on my "tactical shoulder bag." She used it to continue her work and even took the light to her meeting, returning it to me afterwards with her thanks.

I took the Strion that sits in a charger attached to my desk and loaned it to several employees in different departments, who needed the light to see to shut down their machines (running in fast-dwindling uninterruptible power supplies).

"You should charge for your services," one employee said to me.

"As it happens, I sell flashlights..." I said.

I love these vindicating moments. I have been insufferably smug for the remainder of the afternoon.

your a flashlight -aholoic. Don't worry, you are not alone. My buddy sells lights too, and usuallly carrys way more light than he personally needs. I don't like to over do it in the gear dept, for casual wear . Usually only a light and knife or 2 as well as extra ammo and my CCW piece.

    Thumbs up Phil

You seem like you would be a good man to have around in the event of another major power grid failure. Good Show Mate!

Good for you. You and my father would get along well. He keeps flashlights everywhere too. Tell me, do you love little radios as well.

''Flashlitis Gravidus'' is not treatable - the only palliative even is - donate lotsa fresh batteries to the afflicted - they will smile gratefully!

I cannot even remember where all my flashlights are - E1e of course on person at all times but as for the others -- geez - one by bed, one in truck (oops, make that two) .... one in motorbike bag, and er ... another three or more ''somewhere'' .

Hurrum .......... Why then do I see others and wanna buy em! Nope, it ain't treatable.

Let's see, Phil, you found yourself in darkness and had the incredible idea to flip on a flashlight.

How do you come up with these ingenious ideas?

A better question would be why no one else bothers to think of that...
