The Focus has certainly had it's share of bad press and admittedly it's initial quality for the most part left something to be desired, but if you drove my car you'd see what I mean about MY experience anyway. With just shy of 150,000 miles and only a clutch slave cyl. to replace, same clutch, no squeaks, no rattles, and a class of cars that now rank VERY well in initial quality and are and have been critically acclaimed for handling and dynamics, the Focus is very much a car someone should consider newly in the market for a small car.

I cant stand little cars. At the moment I'm stuck in a tempo due to the front of my caprice getting smashed (muddy yard, house in the way, do the math). Hopefully I'll have another Caprice next weekend.
Until a while ago, my daily driver was an 83 Fairmont built out of JY parts. Just about as small as I can stand. I couldn't find a trans to fit the orginal 3.3 engine, but I had a 80ish LTD with a 351/C4 that needed a lot of work (but the trans worked fine), a mild 302 hanging on an engine stand as well as a full exhaust... My trans died again and the car was retired. I really miss it, except when it rains...
Dont be dissin the Monzas now. I rode in one that you would have a lot of respect for, but it had a 327 in it...

On a more serious note, The last 3 ford products I have owned all went pretty much trouble free to at least 200k The last crown vic I sold had 366k miles. My last service van went slightly over 300k (very very abused before I got it at 270k) My current crown vic wagon has well over 200k.

Gotta hand you that one. My '72 Vega was one serious P.O.S! That aluminum block never worked right, I had rotor troubles and clutch troubles galore! Still the Vega is not an SUV or a chevy truck.

Rocks are harder to tow. You know, they aint got wheels.
Not a slam on the bow-tie, but a buddy of mine loves his chevies, unless its going to be a work truck... His wrecker, rollback, and wheel lift are Fords.
