    TRUCK Tailgate

Yesterday I was moving my safe in my one year ole tacoma. The safes weight actually bent the tailgate like a V due to the weight.

Any body know how much a replacement tailgate is roughly?

Or should I go back to the futue styld and get the bars instead?

Or just go cheep and get a net?

Make, model and year would be helpful.

Depending on that a net would definitely be cheaper.

Try the auto salvage yards, usually they have a listing and you will save $$$ over a new one, Tail gates are real easy to remove, No 1 item on the theft list.

Bummer. Looks like that might be a $400.00 mistake, at least. Not counting paint of course.

I would suggest a junk yard. Most junk yards are connected via some "junk yard network"

A brand new aftermarket tailgate won’t be all that expensive to buy. I bought one several years back to replace one that had rusted out on my Bronco. The downside about buying a new, aftermarket tailgate is you’ll have to take all the hardware off your old one and bolt it onto the new one. But the real downside is the paint job to make it match the rest of your truck will cost you much more than the tailgate.

    Another junkyard vote.
There has got to be an '06-interchangeable' tailgate that's still pretty near 100% on wrecked Tacoma, that's the right color, somewhere at least 'fairly' near you. A good bit of hunting and possibly a little bit of driving will save alot of money.

Talk to the dealership, these tailgates are known to be weak, and they may help you out on the repair, and have the tailgate reinforcement TSB (TSB T-BO004-07) done at the same time.

Junkyard or net. Depends on what you use the truck for. Definitely don't spend much money - what a waste that would be.
