The Texian army under General Sam Houston routed the Mexican army under General Antonio Lopez de Santa Ana in a battle that lasted eighteen minutes. The Mexican army suffered six hundred fifty killed and three hundred captured, to the Texians eleven killed and thirty wounded. Santa Ana's capture and surrender the next day led to the withdrawal of Mexican troops, eventually to South of the Rio Grande.

The only problem is that eventually we allowed the US Gov't to ignore the border!

I've been to the battle site ("San Jacinto Monument"). To any Texan (and most Kentuckians/Tennesseans) it's quite a spot. God Bless Texas...indeed.
