Pentagon Confirms Patriot Missile Accidentally Fired From Base in Qatar
Tuesday, October 16, 2007
WASHINGTON A U.S. Patriot missile was accidentally fired from a military base in Qatar, hitting a nearby farm, the Pentagon said Tuesday.
Defense Department spokesman Bryan Whitman said the missile landed in an "unpopulated farm area" and no one was injured.
The incident is being investigated, Whitman said.
"It's been described as an accidental discharge; beyond that it's just not clear at this time" what happened, Whitman said.
The official Qatar News Agency, quoting an unnamed official with Qatar Armed Forces General Command, said the missile was erroneously fired Tuesday from Camp As Sayliyah, located on the outskirts of Doha and caused no damage.

You or I will never get the real truth on this, . . . but you can bet your last bippy that is was no AD or ND. Something was going on, . . . someone pulled that trigger, . . . and the only reason it even made this space is that some civilian(s) witnessed it.
I would believe this was an accident right after I started believing a bleached blonde on my front porch saying: "Hi, . . . I'm Hillary, . . . I'm from the government, . . . and I came to help you".
May God bless,
Dwight

Agreed Dwight.
BTW in other news Big Dick Cheney and Obama are cousins going back eight generations.
Someone somewhere did the research and Lynne Cheney confirmed it as truth; http://blogs.abcnews.com/politicalra...-the-fami.html
Truth is far stranger and more unbelievable than fiction.

Have to agree with Dwight on this. There is so much more to this story that we will never know.

Maybe Dick Cheney had his finger on the trigger?

They were probably running a drill and somebody forgot a lockout or actually pushed a button instead of pretending to push it.
Had a guy temporarily blinded because a Blufor gunner forgot to install the eye-safe filter on his laser range finder. Stuff happens.

My friend was on the USS Detroit in the early 90's when on an excercise, missiles were fired off by one of the ships in the battle group and took out a Turkish destroyer that was participating in the excercise.
The Saratoga (CV 60) accidentally fired a salvo of two Seasparrow missiles at the Turkish destroyer, Mauvenet, on October 1, 1992. One of the two missiles, with a nominal 38-kg warhead, struck the ship. While the Mauvenet was not sunk, the bridge was destroyed and five crewmembers, including the captain, were killed. This damage equated to a "mission kill." See "The Navy’s Year in Review," U. S. Naval Institute Proceedings 119, No. 5 (May 1993), p. 125.

I don't mean to sound 100% sarcastic here but has the notion of an ally eliminating a threat or perceived threat of another allied country seem impossible to you.
Intelligence Agencies have been known to bomb other intelligence agency assets even when they are allies. Spooks like to keep secrets, even from their friends.
Here is one of many stories about the chinese embassy bombing. In this case a missle that could be shot through any choice of windows in any building just happen to penetrate the Intelligence Section of the Embassy. Accidental of course...........................
Remember, this was during the Clinton Administration, a time when we were practically in bed with the Chi-Coms!

Umm... right. Invest in lots of tinfoil, do you?
Intelligence agencies might play dirty tricks on each other, but that's not the same as accidentally firing an anti-aircraft missile at a shiip.
