Question for SIXTO?....
SIX,
I was wondering about the 'job' you gave your Jack Russell finding the toys....Unfortunately, I don't have many birds or squirrells in my backyard, since I only have a couple of sickly little trees....How did you teach him to go find the toys and put them up? 'Chester' has already found a few ways to 'entertain' himself while were gone....
Thanks,
-Tim S.

I really didnt teach him to do this on purpose, but heres how it happened.
We keep his toys in his bed, since he prefers to sleep in his crate. He naturally takes is stuff or things he thinks should be his to his bed.
If he takes a bone or other toys to chew on to his bed, we leave him be. He knows that is his place and his stuff belongs in his place, no one will bother him in his place.
So, when he leaves his toys scattered all over the family room, I started to hide them from him. He would find them, and take them to his place. It became a sport for him.
If he walks by his bed, he checks to see that everything is there. If not, he searches until he finds the missing item. We he finds it, he takes it to where its safe.
There is also neat dog puzzles at pet smart, my dog likes those too.

Hey, Jacks are odd dogs.
Another thought, I'll hide new chew toys and milk bones and let him discover them. Even if there is nothing hidden, he'll still run around and check if he gets bored.

I prefer to think of it as an accelerated thought process that is largely misunderstood by common people...

I only wish that my school teachers had seen it that way.
We would have gotten along much better...I think.

Yes, yes he does. We have long talks over coffee. Sometimes I have to whistle to keep his attention, and he has to bark to keep mine, but we get along fine.
