    Hoppes #9 doesn't burn

One of my son's friends was over the other day, while he was here his Zippo lighter ran out of fluid. He spied a bottle of Ronsonoil lighter fuel on my workbench in the garage and helped himself.
What he didn't realize is that's what I keep the Hoppes in! (it's even marked "Hoppes" on both sides). Works great, just squirt a little on the cleaning patch and I don't worry about spilling the bottle if I knock it over.
Anyway, he topped off the Zippo and tried to light it. Just about wore out his flint and still no fire. His lighter smells good now though!
I'm a child of the 60's, but I got over it.

That's great. I wonder how long it will take to evaporate sufficiently out of the lighter pad to make it usable again? Knowing Hoppes, the smell will probably linger for years. That would be a good thing, though.
