These guys will show up at any military funeral and make sure that nobody with any type of nonsense gives you any grief.

All you have to do is invite them and they show up, show nothing but the utmost respect for your loved ones/fallen soldiers and protect your family from protestors.

You can even join them if you like. The only requirement is that you show respect towards fallen soldiers. They don't care if you ride a motorcycle or not.

Everyone of these guys is an American hero in my honest opinion. They devote their time to assure that every military funeral that they attend happens peacefully and with the utmost respect.


EDIT! I just read on the Patriot Riders website that they actually started this group BECAUSE of Fred Phelps, Pastor and Minister of the very Westboro baptist church that the Snyder family was having problems with.

I think if I were one of the coppers there, I'd be tempted to have a sudden diarrhea attack or something. I'm sure those "church" members would be left in good hands when we went to go take care of the "emergency".

I'll echo everyone else's comments and just say that if they're allowed to say what they want, they need to accept the consequences. I won't even touch the religious connotations.

What really sucks is they try and egg people into fights and as soon as someone throws a punch, they yell for the police to come arrest the person. Then they sue the person who took a swing. And if the cops don't move fast enough, they sue the cops. They make a mockery of our system and I hope the best for that family sueing them.

Check out some of their "reading material" on the website, too. When they protested the funerals of the VT students, I gave them a serious look as far as who they were. The videos on the website watch like someone is handing down a hit-list. Its really weird stuff.

The Westboro maniacs DO have their right to express their opinion as long as they don't harm or advocate harming others.

The PGR has the right, with the families invitation, to attend the funeral as guests and shield the family from the maniacs... and they do it pretty well.

I've been a member for a while, but haven't had the opportunity to ride any missions yet.

The Patriot Guard does a fine job and have attended several funerals around south Georgia. While they are not allowed to become "physical" on one occasion, at the request of the deceased's family, the revving of their Harley's drowned out the "protesters".

The Westboro Baptists are about as despicable a group as any this country has seen. I especially admire the Patriot Guard Riders and their response. Makes me want to buy a Harley and Join them.

Freedom of expression is ofttimes a tough thing to deal with, when the message is so hateful. Restricting expression, however, is a very dangerous approach.

I am a born again Bible believing Christian. I believe what the Bible says. One can disagree and I won't be offended because your not disagreeing with me your disagreeing with scripture and therefore God.

They're right in saying the homosexuality is a sin. However, God will judge ALL sexual sin, homosexuality, lust, premarital sex and adultery, etc... Again if you disagree, your problem is not with me.

God will also judge these people. What they are doing is evil and not of love. This pastor will one day stand before a Holy God and will not like what he has to say as this "pastor" is leading his flock astray. This man and his "church" make me sick and I would not great him as a brother in Christ.

As Christian's our mandate from Jesus Christ himself is to spread the Good News of what He has done for us. It's up to God to then change the lives of the individual.

I'm not at all torn about this. I'm sending in a few bucks on payday. Anything I can do to put a bit of burden on this whacko group. The limits of our freedoms are where our expressions/activities cost someone else their freedom. These nuts cost this man and many others their right their private, peaceful, quiet grieving. Someone needs to park outside of their church on during their services with a very loud PA and play some Queen and Elton John. Since I can't do that I will help strike this "church" financially.
