    TV show "Bones"

I don't catch every episode, but this week the Doc was in a Wonder Woman outfit for Halloween. Her and the FBI dude were looking for a serial kidnapper/murderer. All of a sudden she is holding this HUGE revolver. FBI dude says something about where in the world did she hide it under her costume. She then proceeds to fire it, none too well, and opines that it is too big for her. He agrees. We then learn that it is a S&W 500. Good grief! So he trades her his dept issue semiauto and goes after the BG with the Smith. I've got to get into one of the writer's strategy sessions. I'm sure it's a hoot.

The wife and I watch this show all the time and I saw the episode you mentioned. It irritated me that she just magically pops out a gun. But the thing that really confused me is in every other episode the FBI guy has ALWAYS carried a Glock and now all of a sudden he trades her a 5"- 1911.

So what is the standard issue for the FBI? Glock, 1911 or agent's choice? I always thought FBI standard issue was Glock.

Don's get me wrong. I love my 1911 and I really have no use for Glocks. Glocks are a good pistol but the only way I would own one is if someone gave it to me.

It's a good show. "Booth", the male lead is aways telling her she's got too much gun and that last episode sort of summed that up. Every now and then "Bones" (aka Dr. Brennan) beats the livin' crap outta some knuckle dagging creep with her martial arts skills too ... well worth watching.

Is there some real life version of this Jeffersonian organization?

Not sure about that but the series structure is close enough to "Crossing Jordan" that I get confused as to which stories happened on which shows. Both shows have hot young medical examiners drawn to "studly" young detectives ... heck, the male and female leads even resemble their counterparts on the other shows.

Current standard issue handgun is the Glock 22. I love "Bones" (my wife got he hooked), but please don't look to the show for accurate information about the FBI. :c)

Only if they have it coming to them! Some of those ice cream truck clowns...well...they're just asking for it.

Only once. I think there would be limited opportunities for continued employment after that.
