Why teachers need permission to CC
The details are sketchy at this point because the investigation just started, but there has been another school shooting in Miami.
The on air report of this story showed the school surrounded by several police cars and officers placing crime tape across the entrances.

MIAMI (AP) - A person has been shot outside at a Miami-area high school, and the victim may have been a teacher.
Miami-Dade Police Detective Alvaro Zabaleta says a 911 call was received at 11:27 a.m. reporting a person shot at Miami Carol City Senior High School.
The caller said the shooting occurred outside the school and said the victim may have been a teacher.
Authorities released no further information.
A spokesman for Miami-Dade County Public Schools said no students inside the school have been injured.

Reason: Local news station changed the link address

Fox reported on it, it was a mugging of a teacher who was outside the school grounds smoking.
In my world, every teacher would have the right to wear a fire arm - stopping just short of making it mandatory - and for the same reason we have fire extinguishers - just in case.

The link in the original post has been updated to reflect this--evidently it was not school-related, per se.
The teacher is in critical condition, and three suspects are in custody. Prayers for the teacher to recover fully and quickly.

We all should have the right to carry in a school. Teachers should not be a special class of person.

In all reality we should have the right to carry anywhere. Why should I not be able to defend myself in certain locations? Those who disregard the law don't care that they aren't supposed to have a gun!

When I read that I almost inhaled...
My immediate interpretation was that students (5-17 year-olds) should have the right to carry arms. Adds a whole new meaning to hazard pay for yard duty.
To clarify my post.
I am sure we are on the same page, K-12 = school (& teacher).
Colleges & Universities (Professors) are a in a different league.
Anyone over 21 and of good moral character shall have the right to carry....
