Angry One of My Favorite Gunshops Got Robbed. Hoffman's Newington, CT

    http://www.wnbc.com/news/14591771/detail.html

Hoffman's Gun Center got broken into when criminals crashed a truck through the front of the building.

This just really bums me out, I bought one of my Paras, my Baer, and one of my Colt Mustangs there.

It's a fantastic shop with great staff, and they are planning on opening a range across the street. I hope this doesn't delay their plans.

Hoffman's is one of the largest shops in the North East, and is a stocking dealer for every major firearms manufacturer.

I hope the thieves didn't get too much out of there.

Bummer. Good thing you didn't have anything on layaway there, JD.

Best Gun Store in CT Robbed

Typical liberal media talking about several "high-powered assault rifles". I may be wrong but I don't think Hoffman's carries/sells Class III weapons.

I imagine the store will be getting some concrete barriers in front now. I can also see the liberal democratic turd politicians in this state trying to shut them down stating they are unsafe or some such crap.

Just bought the SP101 there Monday night.

Cabela's may have a larger inventory, but the folks behind the counter don't know crap. The salesperson couldn't even figure out how to open the action when I looked at a SP101 there, I had to tell him how to do it.

K-5 in Milford and Forest & Field in Norwalk are the class III places.

P90 with a suppressor...MP-5SD w/ full auto trigger group...suppressed ruger handguns and rifles...Forest & Field is well stocked.

You know there may be more but this is the second time I've heard in the news of a smash and grab with a truck at a gun store. I would instantly think it is either gang members or other scum that are doing this not to keep the weapons but to sell them on the streets. I feel sorry for the gun store owner as its bad for his buisness and bad for the look of gun owners. I mean the first thing an anti-gun person will say is "OMG see this is why they need to get rid of guns, I mean look how easy it is for them to get them."

Man Arrested In Gun Store Smash-And-Grab

By VANESSA DE LA TORRE | Courant Staff Writer
    3:41 PM EST, November 15, 2007

NEWINGTON - A New Britain man has been arrested in connection with the smash-and-grab at Hoffman's Gun Center in which a truck crashed through the store's front entrance and merchandise was stolen, police said today.

Flor Santiago, 27, of Monroe Street was charged with conspiracy to commit third-degree burglary, conspiracy to commit first-degree criminal mischief, conspiracy to commit second-degree larceny and 14 counts of conspiracy to commit theft of a firearm.

Police would not comment on any other possible suspects, citing the investigation.

The truck that rammed through the gun shop Wednesday morning was a 1996 Dodge Ram 3500 with a dump body, said Sgt. Jeanine Allin. The truck was stolen from KTM Construction in New Britain. The owner did not know it was stolen until contacted by police, Allin said.

Police officers found the truck when responding to the store's burglar alarm, which was triggered around 3:25 a.m., authorities said.

"Merchandise was taken, but I'm not going to get into the specifics of what was taken," Allin said.

State police and officers from nearby towns helped search the building at 2585 Berlin Turnpike and the surrounding area Wednesday but found no one.

Newington police arrested Santiago with the help of New Britain police and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms, authorities said.

Hopefully all of the dirtbags that did this will get collared, and Hoffman's will be re-open quickly for business.
