That's pretty cute!
Hey, and when they retire after working so hard for congress, they get $15,000 a month for the rest of their lives. But gosh, I'm sure they earned it. </sarcasm inserted>

it amazes me, but even to this day Congress can still amaze me!

Arrogance + selfishness + greed = the typical politician...it's not realling that amazing...

It's getting a bit cold in DC right now...I guess that might explain why I have 4(!) Congressional Delegations coming to my neck of the woods in the next few weeks. Nothing like a stroll along the Iguacu Falls or a boat trip up the Amazon (at a cost to the taxpayer that might make you fall out of your chair) to take your mind off that grueling 50 day work year... And of course, spouses are welcome, too! Wouldn't want the little missus to miss a chance to take a private train car up Corcovado to see the Christ the Redeemer statue, would we? Especially when Uncle Sugar is footing the bill!
The Washington Post recently had a nice piece about the CODEL - one of the most egregious abuses of power and wastes of money (among so, so many) in Congress. Not that they're the only people who manipulate the system by squeezing in a few meetings here and there to justify a week long vacation, but they are the most brazen. Sigh....job security for me, though, right?
A man fires a rifle for many years, and he goes to war. And afterward he turns the rifle in at the armory, and he believes he's finished with the rifle. But no matter what else he might do with his hands - love a woman, build a house, change his son's diaper - his hands remember the rifle.
