Riverside
Man accidentally shoots himself in head
A man was killed Friday morning when he accidentally shot himself in the head at a Riverside firing range.
Police were called at about 10:15 a.m. to the shooting at the Riverside Magnum indoor public shooting range in the 12000 block of Sampson Avenue in Riverside, Riverside police Lt. Paul Villanueva said in a report.
Police said Alexander Charles Ross, 26, of Riverside had been there for about six minutes when he accidentally shot himself once in the head while loading a handgun. Security cameras at the privately owned firing range showed that the shooting appeared to be accidental, Villanueva said.
The man was shot with a .40 caliber handgun and died at the shooting range.

I changed the thread title, as it seems unfair to aim the incident at any one state!! Foolish people exist everywhere
Certainly a wierd ''accident'' - due no doubt to total lack of observance of even one of the four rules. .40 cal to head sure sounds pretty terminal.
Somewhat of a challenge tho to conjure up a picture of quite how this was achieved - I guess Darwin notches up another!!

I'm with Chris.
I still cannot figure out how someone could do that while loading.

Actually, as a Californian I think we have a higher share of foolish idiots. In fact, we have so many that every couple of years we send several dozen of them to Washington D.C. and Sacramento.
My apologies, did I say that out loud.

You have been found guilty of political incorrectness. You will attend a sensitivity training class tutored by Nancy Pelosi for six-weeks.

Suicide, not accident?

It is really hard for me to imagine how one could accidentally shoot onesself in the head at an indoor range. Sadly, a few months back there was a suicide at the local range I go to. I hate to second guess the pros who looked at the security tape, but it sounds awfully too weird for an accident.
