Madera has about 45,000 people, the entire county, about 150,000 in 2,400 square miles. The east end of the county is Yosemite National Park. Another forum member, Rossman is up in that area.

30 miles west of Salt Lake City. Just south of the Great Salt Lake. "Unincorporated County", but quite a blossoming bedroom community. Quiet, peaceful, no street lights (home to an observatory). Wouldn't move unless to the mountains.

Currently, a military base, so I'll say city. although its on an island, so it's kinda countryish around it.

Preference is definately for the country though.

Suburbs of Memphis here. Way out in the 'burbs though. About as far out as one can get and still be in the same county as Memphis. My house is less than one mile from the county line.

And we have our eye on moving further out into the country. I'd love to have a house on about 20 acres or wooded land. The house smack in the middle and not able to see any other houses. That would be heaven!

'Fringe of the city' might be the best description now. Used to be more livestock than people within a mile radius. Now there are more European cars than squirrels.

Grew up in the woods and swamp. Now I live right off base in a "small" Navy town.

Had to say country even though it's a small town of around 5,000. Lived in the city and the suburbs before moving back out here. I ain't leaving again. The biggest buildings in town are an old hotel or the feed store. It is a little different being the new guy in town where everyone knows everyone.

When I moved here with my parents in 63 there were 6 houses on the dirt road
now there's over hundred fifty abodes on a paved road.O,I forgot the wooded bridge has been replaced with a large culvert.I don't call this 45 years of progress! Too many neighbors, too much traffic and so it goes !

I started out in the country, and everyone liked me so much the burbs popped up around me. I can now walk to the grocery, fancy eatin companies, gas stations... whatever.
I have since bought a "farm" way out, and I'm waiting for the market to bounce back before I move out there.
