So much for New Jersey's gun control

That's why only the police should have guns, so the guns won't be stolen. Oh, wait........

It's been missing for at least a week. Doesn't that make the Wayne PD guilty of the crime of not reporting it missing within 48 hours? I think NJ just approved that law.

I really like this comment: "Deputy Police Chief John Reardon said he doubts the nine-millimeter weapon wound up in the hands of a private citizen." Then who does he think has it?

It sounds like he thinks one of his officers has a new toy.

Sounds like one of his officers might be looking to make a quick $18K.

Ha! That's awesome. Guess they should have locked it up...or hired people they could trust. This is good and bad IMO - bad because someone was naughty and took something they shouldn't have - good because it just goes to show you can't control guns. Chances of them ever finding it? Slim. Serial numbers, papers, addresses - its all a bunch of hooey.

Well, let's hope it is recovered quickly...but I doubt it. Wouldn't (or perhaps shouldn't) arms rooms have surveillance systems?

They should and an inventory tracking system. In the state Emergency response warehouse You can't get a styrofoam plate out with less than 3 signatures

This, sadly, is fairly typical out of the mouths of police administrators.

Recall the comment by the San Francisco chief of police after the zoo incident with the escaped tiger:

"The officers (SFPD) yelled at the tiger to stop".

Terry, that's what I was getting at. Even LEOs are private citizens. About the only things left would be private non-citizens, legal entities like corporations, and animals. The stupidity that comes of the mouths of supposedly intelligent people is astounding.

Maybe LEOs are public citizens? Or are they "in on it" and we know nothing about "it"? I doubt it. We are all American citizens here....

Okay, maybe not. But that's off topic...
