Changed my address on Concealed Carry Permit today

So I am moving and went into the dmv in cleveland tn and just wanted to follow the rules and do the right thing and change my address. so I go up to the counter and tell the lady what I wanted to do and she hands me two pieces of paper and tells me to fill them out. one for the DL and one for the CL. No big deal on the DL but the other one was the same form I had to fill out to get my carry permit? WT? Anyway I fill out the required paper work and proceed back to the counter, she ask me for my birth certificate? WTH? ok I said I don't have it and she explained that we can go no further with the carry permit. So go get my BC and return, she does the application and charges me five dollars and tells me my permit will arrive in 4-6 weeks after it clears another background check. She said if nothing has changed no arrests, warrants, or any kinda of trouble should be no problem. Keep in mind I have had my permit over a year and no probs what so ever, and all I wanted was to change the address. Has anyone else ran into this?

I changed my address via e-mail to the issuing entity----the Arkansas State Police. They have an excellent group of folks staffing their office there.

My permit in Ky lasts 5 years. I assume the 5 years is so they can do another background check ( well and get more $$ from me ). But seems if there was anything against me, they'd know it already. I've never heard you have to show the birth certificate. I'd be asking someone to see if that's right.

In Texas its pretty easy to change your address. In fact, if you have an online account with the DPS you can change it online.

i got you all beat. in michigan you cant even change your address on it!
they just tell you to keep the old one on it.
at least that was what happened to the last few people who wanted to do that

I had to change the address on my DL and CCW today. Driver's license cost me $12.

For the CCW, I just filled out a piece of paper and gave it back to them. They did look at my current CCW. Then they just said that they would call me when the new one came in. - No charge on the CCW. I can't complain here in KY.

Changed mine Monday. All I had to do was walk in, show them my updated drivers' license (which I got online for $10), fill out one little form showing the old and new address and the permit number, etc.

No charge, but instead of changing the old one, they give you an additional one with the new address and you have to carry both. Pete

I was wondering how that works since I assume at some point we will move out of Shelby County and further from the pit of wreched dispair and misery that is Memphis.
