    Talking Comedy Gold

This seemed really funny at the time.

Whitney is a 15 year old Black girl who stands at 5 foot nothing. You can tell when she's in the room. She's got what you call command presence.

Today she reared up, cocked her head, and said:

"Mr. Gray I don't want you to take this the wrong way, but you are very unattractive. Plus you're not funny and nobody likes you so quit trying."

I had to stifle myself. It was just the way she said it, like she was Moses bringing forth the First Commandment.

    "Thank you for sharing Whitney."

"You don't care that you're so ugly and don't nobody like you?"

"Whitney if I spent my whole life worrying about how ugly I was or if anybody liked me or not I'd never get anything else done."

That finally shut her up but 5 minutes later, I was laughing. Oh God I can still see it, the body posture, the inflection in her voice, and the matter of fact tone.

    They crack me up sometimes.

"I don't want you to take this the wrong way" - that's the real funny part. What is the right way to take it?

I would never had said something like that to a teacher. I would be too worried about my grade.

Glad to hear Euc that already at your young age, you have not only a great sense of humor but also the proverbial ''thick skin''! I often wonder how you deal with such forthright ''lil' darlin's''!!!!

Oh it wouldn't be funny if there wasn't an element of truth in it.

It was that just her conviction was so strong. It was hilarious.

She's not a troublemaker, but it's a constant psychological war with a strong personality like hers. The fact that it didn't phase me when she said that will drive her nuts. She's actually on my side half of the time.

    Truthfully

I don't have any complaints about you (not even one)...of course...don't you EVER try to teach me any Math.
I'm hopeless. The Mathematics portion of my brain is quite atrophied & moldy. There is penicillin growing in that particular segment of my gray matter.
I was the only kid I know that ever started skipping school in (honestly) the 1st grade. And it went downhill from there.
Basic Geometry was the only math that I ever really liked & truly understood.
I like Geometry because it ties in so well with the arts, anatomy & classic painting.

Dumb Me...I just noticed in my post (up there) that I said "anatomy" ~ I should have said: Human Figure Construction.
The name of my one old class was Figure Construction & Anatomy.

Actually geometry is my favorite branch. It's also the math most people are familiar with which actually most closely resembles higher level math.

If you can add, you can do Algebra. Honestly. That's all Algebra really is, addition on the real numbers.

As opposed to the fake numbers?

There are only 10 types of people in the world, those who read binary and those who don't.

I skipped most of late grade school and high school....... Hated math, actually saw no use for it other than adding and subtracting to maybe keep a checkbook straight.......... So, where did I end up?
