Good luck to you - I would ask around and see who has the best reputation and let that be the deciding factor. Once you know you're going to the right guy you might be able to talk price/barter with him a bit. Some doctors are very understanding and open. (Others are not). Are you getting both eyes done? I had one of my eyes done last summer - I got the PRK instead of Lasik - and its amazing. I was 20/200 or worse and now I'm 20/20 with very slight astigmatism.

Don't know how old you are, but are you sure that Lasik is the way to go. I gave it some thought, then my doctor said my problem was cataracts. He removed both and replaced them with a man-made lens. I went from 20/850 in my left eye and 20/900 in my right eye to 20/40 in both eyes. Seems strange being in the rain and not having my glasses get wet - still wear reading glasses.

Thanks G27M, I've heard that name. I'll look him up. I'm at I75 and I696, so not too far.

I thought about getting one done at a time, but I don't want to buy new glasses for the other eye! I thought prk was on its way out, with greater risk of complications? Just something I read somewhere, wikipedia maybe?

Hopefully the doc will be honest at the consult as to whether I am a good candidate or not. My hiccup is mild dry-eye (not making enough tears naturally), but I've heard that intralase helps that be less of a problem. Anyhow, I'm only 31 or 32, so hopefully cataracts are a ways off. I can't wait to be able to see in the rain or wear normal sunglasses.

Maybe PRK is on the way out....I never got the word. It was free through the military, and I got to choose which I wanted - I chose PRK purely to avoid having the flap. Plus now I can wear my cool sunglasses in formation for 2 years and no one can say anything....

I only had one eye done because my other eye was already 20/20!

    Thumbs up Dr. Clavenna !!!!!!!!!

I had my laser surgery performed by Dr. Clavenna. I can not say enough about his professionalism, bed side manner, experience, and credentials.

He has trained a lot of the surgeons in the area. I highly recommend!!!

If you have a LasikPlus up there, I'd recommend them. National chain and if you get the lifetime modification plan you can get your eyes touched up at any LasikPlus across the nation.

Either way, Lasik is one of the best things I ever did for myself. Being able to wake up and see right away is amazing.
