The Pledge
Just heard on the news that the Federal Government is proposing banning the Pledge of Allegiance in schools. They say it must go. Friends what is the country coming too, you would think that in times such as these that you would do all you can to solidify what makes us American. Things are changing for the worst they will be wanting my guns and knives soon.

Well, actually it is a Federal court in good ole Kalifornia trying to say it is unConstitutional. I really think it is time to invade that state....

As a new American this appalls me to the core.
I am as some know not a religious man but despite that I find this repulsive. IF I were able to make one single change in the Pledge I might consider adding ''one nation under MY God'' - which I would hope could cover all deities across the board - then even atheists could just about scrape thru without having to complain.
This is something I place in a similar league to attempts to remove the ten commandments from display in various places.
I mean for heaven's sake - do people not remember what this country was founded on. Steps like this are retrograde in the worst way possible and IMO constitute a ROT that seems to set in ever deeper.
Yes - I am angry - angry as hell at hearing this crap. Nothing but nothing will stop me reciting the Pledge as it should be and remain.
Unconstutional my a$$.!

The 9th circuit court is the clown show that said it was unconstitutional. They are notorious for crap like this. It will head up to the Supreme Court and I am guessing it will be overturned. What pisses is me off is that there is no law that says someone can just not say the "under God" part if they don't want to. Hell, you could say "One nation, under my little pony castle, indivisible..." for all I care. Just let me say it how I want to say it.

A change in the Pledge is about like saying the 1st is dead in the water.
By following the 1st - we can thusly give ''the bird'' and say it as we wish

Comment from Rev Lou Sheldon -
Another Federal Judge Wrongly Rules ?Pledge of Allegiance? Is Unconstitutional
Washington, DC "Here we go again. Another federal judge has just ruled that the Pledge of Allegiance is unconstitutional because it contains the words "under God" in it," said Traditional Values Coalition Chairman Rev. Louis P. Sheldon today. "This latest outrage from Carter appointee United States District Court Judge Lawrence Karlton is all the more reason why it is absolutely essential that President Bush's next pick for the Supreme Court be a sound Constitutionalist like Judge John Roberts - not a judicial activist."
Rev. Sheldon continued: "Judge Karlton says he's bound by - precedent - from the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals in the previous lawsuit brought by atheist Michael Newdow. But, the Supreme Court tossed out the 9th Circuit's ruling because Newdow had no legal standing to bring the suit in the first place. Basing a legal decision upon a previously flawed decision from the 9th Circuit is an exercise in judicial tyranny and an abuse of power."
"This latest attack upon religious liberty proves once more how important it is that we have judges who understand that their role is that of an umpire not a pitcher or batter in legal matters. Judge Karlton has apparently decided to be a player, not an umpire."

There are no words to express how --why--oh crap! How we are failing ourselves and our future. Turn off the lights when we leave.

As a former member of the military who stood at MEPS some 8yrs ago now swore to defend this country its just amazing to me. I can't believe it. Look it where we are going. I can remember saying this in school and it meant so much. I don't know who to blame some say Liberals, some say Democrats. I don't know...signing off on the east coast. Will we get to the point where we are seriously a melting pot chocked full of everything standing for nothing and falling for anything...
