    Another brilliant criminal

LIBERTY, Pa. — A Pennsylvania man is accused of attempted bank robbery — and if poor planning were a crime, he might be charged with that, too.

Police say a man arrived at the Citizens and Northern Bank in the borough of Liberty on Thursday and waited in his car for about 20 minutes. Shortly after noon, he tried to enter the bank 100 miles west of Scranton wearing a ski mask and carrying a rifle. But the bank's Liberty branch closes at noon on Thursdays, foiling his plans.

The man fled the scene, but bank employees took note of his license plate number. A 28-year-old suspect is jailed in lieu of $50,000 bail.

I see "inmate" as his future occupation.

How did they determine he was going to rob the bank? He sat in his car for 20 minutes and then tried to make a deposit but the bank was closed. Other than carrying a rifle I can't see that he broke any laws other than being stupid.

Half the town has to know this guy. 1) 100 miles west of Scraton equals nothing, 2) the bank closes at noon on Thursday???

I'm almost shocked he didn't lock himself out of his own car.

I think wearing a ski mask and carrying a rifle might be a clue to his intentions...

But can you prove his intentions were to rob the bank? Did you ask him? I'll bet he says he wasn't.........I'll take that back, we aren't dealing with Norman Einstein here.

I think the ski mask might have been a give-away. (And if this was in the last day or so, the temperature in PA might have been in the 50's. Ski mask?

Ok this brings up a question! Lets say you are out along the river on your bike hunting possums and you need gas, and don't have cash. You go to the bank, what are you supposed to do with the rifle?
