    I Met Stephen Hunter

I met the author Stephen Hunter (Point of Impact, etc..) at a Literary Night at the local library Friday night. Got to talk to him for a little while at the dinner afterwards. He's quite a character and a very funny guy. He thanked everyone who bought his books, because, in his words "it allowed me to buy every gun I ever wanted".

Lucky you. I enjoyed all his books. So is he mainly a .45 dude and/or a long arm "precision rifle" of sorts or is he a general collector?

it must have been nice to chat with the man. A gun toting Pulitzer prize recepient... sounds almost like a contradition in terms nowadays.

Agh. as an avid reader and a big Stephen Hunter fan, I'm jealous. I just finished "Dirty White Boys."

I remember one of the gun magazine editors who interviewed Stephen Hunter said that Stephen Hunter was the only person he had ever interviewed that sent him a thank you note. A class guy, as well as a great author!

We really didn't talk guns too much, more thanking him for writing really good novels that put a positive spin on guns and gun people, discussion of the movie "Shooter" (he wasn't a big fan, but didn't hate it, either) and talking about how he writes the books (we weren't with a bunch of gun people, more society types with an urge to be civic by supporting the library). But it was still an evening I won't soon forget.
