My truck melted w/ my sig and 200rounds!pics

It was a Thur. night at our weekly poker game. I arrived at my friends house around 7 pm. We were playing a little Texas hold em when his girlfriend came out of the bedroom around 11 pm screaming "somethings on fire"!!

We opened the front door to find a 5 foot flame coming out of the engine compartment, the windshield was already melted, along with the hood and the dash was on fire!!
I told my buddies "let's move around the house" I had 180 rounds of .40 and 20 rounds of 7mm mag in the console.
we called the FD it was a vol. squad and took them about 20 mins to arrive.
The whole time you could hear rounds going off, The first couple must have separated them, because they were spaced apart!
The .40 just popped, but you could tell when one of the 7 mags blew!
When the FD showed up I run to the truck and let the firemen know there live rounds going off!!
One old guy grabbed a hose and said "today's not my day" as he took off and threw the hose in the passenger window!
When it was all said and done there were Small holes all in the doors, This was one of the Ford's with a cruise control problem.
The wire melted down on top of the injectors, and it went up!
    I did win about $150.00 that night!!LOL
Lost my Sig and my truck!

Sorry to hear, but it sounds like you also made out pretty well in the whole insurance transaction. One less Sig in the world, but then again...one less Ford, too!

Just kidding. Glad nobody was hurt.

I was going to say you must of got a Chevy in that "upgrade" but you beat me to it. Glad things worked out for you given a pretty crappy situation.

Glad it worked out OK. You've now provided proof of what burning live ammo can do in certain circumstances.

Isn't that the handle of the Sig in the third picture, with a mag spring on top of it?

Yep That's what was left of it!! I tried to get it out but it was melted to the floorpan along with the seats, and dash and every other piece of plastic in it.

Just for kicks here's a couple more. I looked all over for the 7mm mag casings but didn't find any! There was no doubt when they went off, my friend was worried they would hit his house windows, but we found no damage other then holes all thru both doors of my truck!!

We had a Z71 do the same thing after 5000 miles. They had the hot wire next to the fuel rail and it shorted... they fixed the problem since. Love my Z71's

I highly doubt that ammo cooking off is going to have any sort of velocity behind it to punch through a car door... do you have pics of the holes?

    CDWolf,
When this happened, had you had the recall "fix" done? Reason I ask is that I have a F350 that was in the recall and I've had the fix done, but was curious whether your fire occurred before or after the fix.
