They all think I can't get 9-11 out of my mind. 1911, I say, 1911. The thin one with the sweet handle and easy trigger. Spouse knows I'm not talking about anything else. But if I said I'd like to work the slide on that CZ, I might be in for trouble.

Don't you worry about the jokes from the young'uns, Mr. Bruceand his1911willneverpart, youth and skill is no match for old age and trickery.

I guess I have a similar affliction- it's incurable, I'm told. Once I got to shoot JMB's masterpiece, that's all she wrote. The only other gun that comes close for me is my CZ P-01.

Though my dads commander was fun to shoot, the moment was kinda spoiled by the fact that it needs a gunsmith really bad. It was shooting approx. 14 high. Still, I intend to own one myself. Thinking about the Colt CC or a Para.

While I am posting I might as well ask, for those who know, why you can't find the Commander in the satin finish anymore?

My dad and I were talking guns yesterday and he told me that he picked up his Commander NIB no shots fired for $90 while in the navy(30yrs ago). Wish I could land a deal like that.

1911's are special. Must be the most popular gun made.

My best friends dad was a cargo pilot in WWII. He flew the DC-3 across the HUMP in Burma and later into Africa. When he passed in 1980 or thereabouts he left my buddy about a DOZEN 1911's in calibers including the 9mm and several 38 Super as well as 45 that he picked up overseas for about $20 each. He also picked up an H&H 375 magnum he called his engine compartment gun (since he owned a rather large sailing yacht) and he was a great fan of the 38 Super. He and I used to sail down the bay with both our familes aboard and ARGUE the 38 Super vs. 45 caliber all day. He was about as close to me as my own dad. Man those must have been the days.....

I own several Colt's and a Kimber. Love them all. Will add another Kimber to my "flock" in a couple of weeks. I also feel that the 1911 style is the pistol to carry(CCW) and the pistol to compete with. All my 1911's are in .45ACP.---------

OK, to all us 1911 addicts, you ever notice that you can tell the diff between a Colt 1911 and a clone just by holding it? You can even have your eyes closed, they just feel diff.
