    Another 1911 pic (idiot mark)

I wonder how they got it way down to the trigger I have seen a lot of idiot marks, but this one is by far the longest.

And someone used the end of a butter knife to tighten the upper grip screw. It's a Colt AND a 9mm,hell,I'd just throw the weapon away. Not really, I'm sure that somebody loves the ol' girl.---------

That's a long one all right

    Maybe a big idiot?

BTW: The term "Idiot Mark" is so very crude.
Let's please call it by its PROPER NAME from this point forward.

It is: An Unintentionally Novice Created Scribed Short Reassembly Arc

    Question Ok

I can see a new 1911 shooter doing an "Unintentionally Novice Created Scribed Short Reassembly Arc" on the "flat" of the frame...OK - I can see that as being possible.
How do you get one that continues way down on that frame radius cut all the way to the TRIGGER though???

I asked the guy that I bought it from if he hammered on it. He said he slipped during reassembly.

I have to admit, I have two idiot marks on my 1911 like that. While I did purchase my weapon new, neither of them were caused by me. One of them I noticed while inspecting my weapon after drawing it from the armory. Actually I noticed a lot of scratches that day. I am firmly under the belief that someone had taken it out and been playing with it and had trouble reassembling it. (I hated storing my weapon in the armory.) The second one was caused by my sensai- he had asked me to teach him a little about handguns. So I did, four rules, range trip, and cleaning and reassembly. First time he tried to reassemble the gun, idiot mark that goes all the way to the trigger.

Yes my sensai has learned not to do that again, no unfortunately he hasn't bought a firearm for himself yet.

Go ahead, call me an idiot. Mine are battle scars, like the faces of Prussian swordsmen. I gave them during reassembly in the dark. But all the way down to the triggerguard??? Moron marks.

Pardon me, but what in blazes is a "sensai"?!? (turn your Japanese IME on to see these..) 山菜? = your mountain weeds?? If you meant "teacher", that is "sensEi" when written in Roman letters. FYI--> せんせい 先生

Making typos when writing Japanese words in "Romaji" (= Roman letters) can give a completely different word... I never fail to get a kick out of hearing from my Japanese friends about the politics behind the latest erection! :D
