Got scary when NWS was saying likely touchdown of tornado was Windsor (home) saw the funnel could as I was headed home about 1555 over Suffolk. Did learn that our bug out procedure works as the fiancee and kids ahd the bags ready. Found a few flaws, the emergency radio that I bought has no weather band and my 5 gallon collapsible jugs were nowhere to be found. A quick jump to the internet and both are on the way. Closest touchdown was probably 6 miles from me. Scary, scary, scary. By the way, once you think it's coming the whole "hide in a closet or basement" deal sounds about as good as the DHS "In the event of a chemical attack use duct tape and plastic bags to cover your windows."

We were about gone and the storms passed, the hardest part about bugging out was going to be that my 9 y/o daughter was locked down in the school. Hard bite to swallow but convinced everyone the school was safer than the house or the road.

    Sad update...
    Over 200 people injured...no deaths, though...(that's good)

The other thing is the most severe injuries are a couple broken bones...for an EF3 I'll take it.

Sat it out in Franklin. Hardly rained. One minor twister tore through Capron, another flirted with Carrsville Fire station. Never thought I'd see destruction like this around here. One of my employer's offices (Medical Transport) is right next to Obici hospital. Yikes.

A few years ago was going across the Campostella bridge and watched a small twister parallel me across the Elizabeth river about 300 yards away!

Colonial Heights is about six miles from here. I was sitting in the garage smokin' as stogie. Winds came up, rained at a 45 degree angle for a few minutes, then calmed down. This between was 3 and 6 pm. Watched the news at 6:30 only to see the local station pre-empt the national news. They had footage, didn't realize it had hit so close.
The main damage was close to the sporting goods store I purchased my weapon from. Few, if any homes damaged here.

I know what those poor souls are going through, our area of town was hit by a EF4 tornado back in 2003. My brother in law lost his house, what a mess going through all that debris trying to salvage what we could.
