PINELLAS COUNTY (Bay News 9) -- Pinellas County deputies say a man tried to break into cars in the courthouse parking lot earlier this week - right after a pre-trial hearing on a previous burglary charge.
Shawn Riddle, 31, was arrested and charged with burglary in March, but has been out of jail on bond. He was in court Monday for a pre-trial hearing, and deputies said after the hearing he walked out of the courthouse and tried breaking into some cars.
A witness said he saw Riddle try to open two car doors, and deputies said they found him inside a third car.
Riddle was charged with three more burglary-related counts, and picked up a charge of introduction of contraband into a jail facility while being booked into jail. Deputies said they found a dozen Xanax hidden in a body cavity.
Riddle is in jail on $35,000 bond. He faces five felony charges.
He is scheduled for trial later this month on his March arrest for allegedly burglarizing a home.
