Idiot, he is one of the few that can probably get a permit in LA and he doesn't have one. Then the moron decides to take it into the airport.

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Dennis Farina has been arrested at Los Angeles International Airport after a loaded gun was found in his carry-on luggage.
Police say the 64-year-old actor told them he forgot the .22-caliber handgun was in his luggage Sunday.
Sgt. Dennis Beacham says Farina was caught at a security checkpoint and booked for investigation of carrying a concealed weapon. Bail was set at $25,000.
Messages were left for Farina's attorney, Kevin York, and his agent.
Farina has a role in the Ashton Kutcher and Cameron Diaz comedy "What Happens in Vegas." It opened Friday.
He has also starred in TV's "Law & Order" and in the movies "Snatch" and "Get Shorty."

I bet that they throw the 'book' at him...literally...the judge will pick up a book, throw it at him, and say, "Now don't ever do that again! Now get out of my court...I'll talk more with you at lunch, Dennis."
Nothing will come of it...watch.
Now you or I...we'd be in the slammer for a while.
Pretty dumb move though, how does one forget a gun in the luggage?
"That I cannot do."
"Give this to, uh, Clemenza. I want reliable people, people who aren't going to be carried away. After all we're not murderers in spite of what this undertaker thinks."

+1 There have been times I "forgot" to set the alarm clock. But, forgetting you have a gun? Maybe he has so many he can't keep track of them?
To follow up with your line of thought...does he forget he has it when he needs it????

Hmmm, I know he got pinched at the airport, but the fact he is a retired Chi-town cop should help his case. It appears it is an honest mistake, but one will counter he should have known better. The heck with the TSA.

If you are inattentive enough to get caught with a pissant little .22 lr...
Considering yourself to be defenseless is the first administrative step to becoming a victim.

According to an article in the L.A. Times, it was in his briefcase. He should look on the bright side and be happy he wasn't in Mexico.
A police sergeant at the LAX airport indicates that the majority of ~10 incidents per month are where people "forget" that they've got a firearm in their carry-on bags.
I wonder if all such folks get arrested, charged, have $35K bail set.

The security staff were performing their appropriate tasks under the law. Until the law changes to stop disallowing people to carry their own means of self-defense, the TSA isn't to blame.
Data point: I, myself had long since lost a Spyderco Delica knife. Boarding a flight a couple years back, it was found ... by a security guy at the loading gate. It had gotten lodged in between panels in a collapsible bottom in a "gym" type bag I used for light travel. Oops. Post 9/11, yet there was no arrest or bail. It was in California, but off course it wasn't a firearm for which I was not licensed to carry.
Your best weapon is your brain. Don't leave home without it.
Thoughts: Justifiable self defense.
Explain: How does
disarming victims
reduce the number of victims?
