Maybe Burger King Should Try This

    $175 hamburger on Wall Street - CNN.com

NEW YORK (AP) -- Despite the economic downturn, a Lower Manhattan restaurant is now offering a $175 hamburger.

The opulent and extravagant burger is made of Japanese Kobe beef, topped with gold flakes, black truffles, a thick slab of seared foie gras and aged Gruyere cheese.

Wall Street Burger Shoppe co-owner Heather Tierney thinks of it as "a work of art."

Tierney says the item attracts Wall Street types who down a few beers and then fork over $175 (euro112) to "show off in front of their friends.

That doesn't say anything about how far we have come as a society, does it? I don't think so.
Whatever is, is normal. Whatever bizarre thing, it is not bizarre. Black is white and white is black.
I am all for a million dollar burger for those with the dough to pay for it. That would be progress. A bigger and better and more expensive burger.
None of this is nonsense, it is just people doing their own thing and being creative and it speaks admirably well of a very ill society.

I just found out that that price is just for a plain ol burger. Ketchup and onions make it 500.00. Fries are another eight hundred. Just, as the article says, to show off for friends. I would wonder if the buyer's friends are not more likely to think him ready for a little hospitalization.

Me too, and I want to pay a lot more for it, too.

I wonder if I can get it without the gold flakes. That seems just sort of pointless and extravagant to me...

Maybe I just have too much common sense, but that's probably not the best tasting burger in the world (which I'm sure can be had for less than $20) and therefore not worth the price. Even if it was, I'd still pay less than $20 for the second best tasting burger in the world and walk away happy. Besides, buffalo tastes way better anyway.

Without the gold flakes it is only a hundred and fifty bucks, so you do save a little.

I'm sure you're right on that! BTW, the BEST burger I ever had was in the little town of Driggs, Idaho, which is probably 10 blocks high by 5 blocks wide. It was a real "cowboy" bar/restaurant, down home, friendly, and delicious. That's a real compliment, from a "New Yorka".

That's funny...cuz the attraction of the kobe beef is the marbling...thats where the excellent flavor and melt in your mouth texture comes from. Once you grind it up, the marbling is kind of unimportant. It's like pouring Dom Perignon into a Mamosa. Idiots will pay anything to look important.

You're from Texas, Whataburger is all you need to know.

And if you live in Plano there is Ye Old Butcher Shop on 14th near downtown that has buffalo and elk burgers on alternating days.
