I agree that anyone who is in the service and that particular service counts them as one of their own then by that alone they should be considered full Marine, Airman, Soldier, Sailor. But the main question I still have is why they are not required to complete Boot Camp like other Marines?

The night before we "graduated" from Parris Island our Drill Instructor told us "Good Night, Marines". I suspect our band members have had a similar experience.

Paco -- lots of folks are Marines. We all have done a certain amount of training(MOS specific)/shooting/sleeping in the woods/etc. Who are you to question the finest fighting organization ever to walk the face of the earth? Army? Navy? Al Quaida????? Tell us about your Boot Camp experience.

I'd take a USMC Band member in a firefight before I'd think about taking a civilion.

You are correct, I was not at Parris Island. I was not a Marine nor did I ever indicate I was. I did indicate that I am not a Marine historian therefore I was asking a simple question as I admitted ignorance in this subject.

I was an Army Combat Engineer, I did Basic Training at Ft. Leonardwood, MO. My Basic was just like everyone else's I did the CBT house, PT, standard training. I also got an Article 15 for smoking on a transport while coming back from field exercises heading to sick call for a broken foot.

If you read previous posts from me you will see that I stated

If the Corps calls them Marines then they are Marines.
