    Cat-astrophy today (knucklehead is gone)

Mainly for the cat lovers out there, and I'm still at a loss as to why it happened. After all, he rode home with me one cold April night in the rain underneath my truck on top of the gas tank unknown to me for a full 32 miles from work to home. I'll never forget those cries as I turned off the truck once in the garage, and his first step down was on top of the muffler! Too long of a story to post here and now, but he was a good cat, and I named him 'Lucky' just for being where he got to and surviving the ordeal. There was an accident today, something hard to explain. After all these years and living close to the highway, in the house, and out in the fields---Lucky passed away today as was run over in the garage. It appeared he had fallen asleep behind the back tire of the car and the wife had backed out over his head. I think it was an instant death despite the quivers that lasted no more than 30 seconds or so. I think the reality hasn't really set in for me yet---although I had dug a hole and buried him in the back yard a mere 20 minutes after it happened. For all the times I told him to get off my truck, for all the times I told him not to cross the road, for all the times he was begging and I told him no----The Good Lord rest his soul. R.I.P. Lucky--you'll be missed--you silly cat. XOXOXO

The animals are the best. They never ask questions, they know how we feel, they can incite our anger and our love at the same time, they accept us without prejudice and readily accept every facet of our lives without discontent. Pets make the best friends one could have for those reasons. Why heck---they're family and we've passed good times and bad.

That's really sad - I'm sorry for the loss of a good friend.

I hope your wife doesn't feel responsible - she probably couldn't have known, and 99 times out of 100 the cat would move when you started the engine...

    Peace,
    Pete Zaria.

Sorry, ram. It sounds stupid, but we raise big lizards and they're like family -- always devastating to lose any family member.
It is utterly illogical to believe that passing laws to reduce gun violence will be successful when those who are commiting the gun violence do not obey the law.

Sorry for your loss. It's interesting how animals find their way into our hearts. It's never easy to let them go.

I have no idea why he didn't move or hear the car. I reckon when it's time, it's time. Old age was not a factor. I still don't understand. Thank you all.

Sorry for your loss Ram Rod. I still have fond memories of each animal I have had over the years and have lost. They each have a place in the heart. Each one have their own unique personality.
Lucky may be gone from this world. But as long as you live, he will live on in your memories.

So sorry. Having many cats and dogs over the years, I truly know how you feel.
