Fake Security Guards Hit Cumberland Mall Jewelry Store - News Story - WSB Atlanta

COBB COUNTY, Ga. -- A gang of armed men dressed as security guards robbed a jewelry store at Cumberland Mall in Cobb County Monday morning.

The four gunmen held up Crown Jewelers at the busy mall just before noon. Police said a fifth person stayed with the getaway car.

All of the robbers wore black uniforms with the word "Security" on the back, according to police. The heavily armed group spent only moments inside Crown Jewelers but left the place shattered. Jewelry cases were completely smashed.

"I saw five guys jump out of a nice car," one witness told WSB-TV reporter Ross Cavitt. "It looked like an action movie. They went in and out, they had it down to a science. They did their homework and did it right."

At least one of the men carried a shotgun.

"We're looking for at least four males, dressed in dark-colored military-type fatigues," said Sgt. Dana Pierce with the Cobb County Police Department.

Authorities said they believe it is a well-drilled and well-armed robbing crew that spent a good amount of time casing the mall and the store. They wore masks and fled quickly and officials said they will be hard to identify.

Police said they believe in this case, they were less than a minute away from a potentially violent confrontation. "Our officers from Zone 3 began to arrive within moments of them fleeing out the west side of the building," said Pierce. "If they had stopped near the front door and went inside directly as the robbery was occurring it could've been a very serious situation."

No one was injured in the bold, daylight robbery.

I was shopping for a new CCW over at Outdoor adventures (currently being sued by Michael BloomBUG that little pest has been bugging several REPUTABLE dealers and claims they are a public nuisance to his city... any how, decided to support them and I over heard one young lady there who was getting her first handgun, it turns out that she was a witness to that mall jewelry store robbery... if you see the video (it was on CNN, also check the link above) you will see that these 4 men were heavily armed and even had security jackets on... any ways, at lest no one was hurt or killed because IMHO it could have easily been worst... a lot of these criminals are attacking like a pack of wolves and they are less "obvious" these days, the burglars are pretending to be utility men, skanky women are being used as decoys to get into homes... people pretending to be security guards or police... these people need more than the book to be thrown at them, and I wander why these type of things are not perpetrated nearly as often in middle eastern countries with serious capital punishment. Stealing = cut off of hands, rape/murder/drug dealing = decapitation etc... but instead we here in America cuddle criminals.

This is correct many cops have been shot walking in on robberys or just pulling up as bad guys run out,It would be suicide to take on a heavily armed gang unless you felt they were gonna execute everybody before they left,if the grab loot and run be a good witness if they herd ya in the back room might be time to defend your life
