    And this photo is a forensic reconstruction of the one young girl that was sacrificed in the bog.


    Actually I'm sort of sorry that Carnegie Museum did not have a few of the nicer examples of the preserved bog people on display.

    The "found artifacts" were absolutely amazing (to me) anyway.

    One interesting artifact was a small flint knapped personal defense knife with a wooden handle and an incredible perfectly preserved molded leather sheath on a thong (I'm best guessing) worn around the neck.

    Phil Elmore just posted a pic of his Knife on a nech chain.
    Some things have not changed much in a few thousand years!

    Some of the preservation in peat bogs is remarkable - seems to mumify better than almost anything.

    I heard recently of some discovery up North where a fighter/bomber pilot had been found preserved perfectly in permafrost!

    intresting. Heard about the flier from WW2 found in the sierras. They were looking to find out a name to notify next of kin.
