Playing with his gun
One morning three of us were on our way to hunt paper
company owned land just outside Ormond Beach Florida. We had just turned off the main road onto a two lane dirt and gone about a mile when a pickup truck passed us at a high rate of speed. About five minutes later we came upon the same pickup blocking the road. The driver was out of the truck and had a long (8)inch barrow Smith & Wesson in his hand. We stopped and he informed us he was a law enforcement officer for the game commission but he did not show ID. This guy was a real wise guy. After a few minutes we were through talking and on or way to our hunting site. We decided after the morning hunt that we had other things to do. On our way out we came upon the so called game warden with his truck parked in the road. As we passed his truck we noticed that he didn't look so good and there was blood on the truck door. We stopped to help and found that he was shot in the hand and about to go into shock. The (warden) wouldn't say what had happened. We finally figured it out though. The so called (warden) had been playing with his gun doing fast draws and had shot him self. We called the state police and when they arrived we left. I wonder what he told his superiors???
Bet he won't do that again.

Yeah...but Barney only had that one round in his shirt pocket.
Real shame...they advertise great training but the results don't show it. The newspapers are full of "dumb" stops that go nowhere.

A officer carrying an 8" revolver? I'm doubting he was a game officer, or at least working at the time.
