Police: Gunman arrested after entering NYC school

    Published: 6/18/08, 7:45 PM EDT

NEW YORK (AP) - Officials say a Brooklyn elementary school was evacuated after a man with a gun was reported in the building. No students or teachers were injured, and police have arrested the man.

Police say the man was involved in an armed robbery nearby and ran into the school around 1:50 p.m. Wednesday. He was arrested in the school's third-floor bathroom with a loaded weapon.

Students say police told them to stay inside their classrooms, lock the doors and hide under their desks.

I'm glad they arrested this perpetrator before anyone was harmed, but I thought firearms were strictly regulated in New York City. How did he get one?

Not at all a demonstration of how "safety procedures" can save anybody. There were no casualties because the guy wasn't committed...because HE ALLOWED the children to live.

I'm just one root in a grassroots organization. No one should assume that I speak for the VCDL.

I am neither an attorney-at-law nor I do play one on television or on the internet. No one should assumes my opinion is legal advice.

They are strictly regulated... but just for us law abiding citizens, and not for the criminals!
