Why can't people respond to OP concern?

There is a thread running now over in another forum where a member asked for specific information. The member specified type of firearm, caliber of firearm, weight of firearm.

He asked if any of three specific manufacturers offered a firearm that conformed to the above.

AFAIK not one of the replies addressed the specific interest of the OP. Many of them are from fans/owners of one particular firearm. Several praised firearms that were of a different type, different weight and different caliber.

Maybe DC needs a new forum to keep folks like the ones who replied to this thread happy:

What I have and why I think that it's the best.

Why doesn't the guy come over here and ask his question?

I think he's talking about this thread: http://www.defensivecarry.com/vbulle...light-9mm.html

I'm inclined to say that the reason that there have been many posts irrelevant to the OPs question is that as far as I know, there are no plans for any of the makers mentioned to make such a gun, so they are offering alternatives....

But I could be wrong about all of that.

    Thanks,

But I will admit that the OP's gripe is one of my pet peeves.

    Example.
Q: "Which should I get, the Glock or the XD both in 9mm.

A: "Get a Sig in 45, I don't care that you're talking polymer, striker fired 9mm guns, I'm going to recommend the only gun I have, even though it's alloy framed, not the same size, and has a hammer/decocker/and not have the capacity you want.
I think that was the point that the OP was trying to make, I just think he brought up a bad example of a thread if I am correct in my guess.

In the spirit of being helpful, many offer up the next closest bit of info on something they do know about, something that ostensibly could fill the same need.

Now, I fully appreciate that if someone wants ONLY replies on 28oz guns but gets a truck load of replies on 27oz guns, one might be perturbed. Then again, perhaps not.

But then, what's the point of the question that anyone has? If the same goal is (more or less) satisfied with the alternatives, then where's the infraction?

Depends on details, as always. Each question is different.

Concerning the thread "Any chance . . .will make . . .9 mm.

I put my thoughts in a separate thread as it did not seem appropriate to place them in a thread (thread drift) asking for information. It was still possible that some responsive information might be offered.
Oh wait. I did that by providing a link about a possible time frame for Sig's new sub-compact and mention of a new sub-compact by HK.

Will they meet all of the criteria? No one knows yet. These are just rumors like js asked for. Sig does have a photo on their site.

Below is what I saw in js post and my take on it.

    (1) Any chance that Glock, H&K or Sig will make a single stack light 9mm?

js is making a specific interest known

    (2) I have owned a Kahr pm9 and own a Kel Tec Pf9, Glock 26.

js seems to be familiar with Kahr, Kel Tec and GLOCK pistols

    (3) I would love to see a top quality gun maker produce a single stack, light (17 oz or less).

js apparently is saying that none of the pistols in (2) are all of the following: top-quality, single-stack and weigh 17 oz or less.

    (4) Any rumors out there?

It appears that js knows there is nothing currently available that meet all of his needs but would like to know if there are rumors or information about such a product.

One has to have an understanding of people and humanity as a whole and the selective hearing or seeing or interpretations of what they thought they saw, or heard, or know. All I have to say about the issue in question is that Glock already does.
Any chance that Glock, H&K or Sig will make a single stack light 9mm?
All those Glock owners in states that have banned hi cap magazines and limited them to 10 rounds already own single stack 9mm Glock pistols. The ten round mags are single stack. There--now let's start another debate.

Yes and, as such, suggestions such as the Para Ordnance PDA 9mm (@ 24oz, single stack, decent quality) might be reasonable given that such parameters are hard to come by. Though, Kahr's TP9, P9 and CW9 options might be more suitable, given the weight limitation and one's impressions of the quality.

I had a similar complaint a little while back. The last I looked the thread turned into a Ginger vs Mary Ann debate...

There are two sides to every issue: one side is right and the other is wrong, but the middle is always evil.

    Thumbs up Great Idea!

You mean we should read the entire OP and all of the responses before we post our own opinion? Great idea! I like it! Especially if it's "on thread"!
