    Suspected flasher killed in California gun battle


    ANAHEIM, Calif. – A suspected flasher who wounded a police officer has been killed in a highway shootout that also left a woman bystander wounded.

    Officials say a motorist was slightly wounded in the gun battle between the suspect and Anaheim police.
    Sgt. Tim Schmidt says the gunfight took place early Monday as officers tried to pull over the suspect as he headed east on the Riverside Freeway.

    The man struck other vehicles in Anaheim, then got out of his car, armed with a handgun.
    He exchanged gunfire with at least two officers and died at the scene.
    Schmidt says it was not clear who shot the motorist. She was taken to a hospital with superficial wounds.
