I'm sick and tired of this term being used to no end in order to pass any legislation the far left wants. Everything from gun regulation to health care is touted under this and quite frankly I'm sick of it.Originally Posted by The Constitution
The Constitution spells out "the people" "the state" and "the United States" (meaning the federal govt) VERY well. Our forefathers were extremely specific when and where they stated to whom the rights belonged and wrote it in VERY plain English. However, as with everything else, time, ignorance, and repetition by socialists have pushed the true meaning away.
This is a scan of the 1828 edition of Noah Webster's American Dictionary of the English Language on the word “welfare”. It is a reference from the era of The Constitution.
There is a clear distinction between welfare as applied to persons and states. In The Constitution the word "welfare" is used in the context of states and not persons. The "welfare of the United States" is not the same as the welfare of individuals.
However, our founding fathers, The Constitution itself, and our personal freedoms have been undermined by men, either by choice, or by ignorance as the Supreme Court has ruled that it applied to the people, in agreeance with that two faced underhanded Alexander Hamilton. The Constitution clearly states the "welfare of the United States" NOT the people.
Now the question is how do we stop the continued abuse and destruction of our rights? What do we do? How do we make it stop?
You are absolutly right. A Congress that has hijacked the general welfare clause and an electorate that is risk averse and indoctrinated into socialism is what is destroying this country.-Jay
