There are two things about this story that intrigue me. First, the guy uses a sword. Second, the guy has just screwed his life up for a cell phone? Jeez, if you're going to risk a multiple year stay in the "gray bar motel" at least steal something worthy of the penalty.

Spring Lake, N.C. — A Spring Lake man forced his way into a house on South Conner Circle on Thursday and threatened the residents there with a 2½-foot sword, according to the Cumberland County Sheriff's Office.
Jonathan Antonio Richardson, 19, of 713-A Eva Circle is charged first-degree burglary, robbery with a dangerous weapon and two counts of attempted robbery with a deadly weapon
The victim told investigators that Richardson stole his cell phone.
Richardson was being held in the Cumberland County Detention Center under a $170,000 secured bond.
"If you can't place your shots on a non-moving piece of paper, how much more difficult will it be when that piece of paper becomes a 3-time felon whose sole purpose is to avoid going back to prison no matter what happens and no matter who gets in the way?"

In a "game" of rock, paper, scissors, his choice of force could have been trumped by the average homeowner's choice. Hm. Interesting selection.
