    Vintage Warbirds

The "Wings Of Freedom" tour made a stop in Kalispell, Montana at Glacier Park Int'l Airport this week with a squadron of 4 restored WW2 aircraft.

A B-17G Flying Fortress, named "Nine O Nine".

A B-24J Liberator, named "Witchcraft". This is the only flying B-24 in the world today.

    A B-25J Mitchell, named "Tondelayo".

A P-51 Mustang, named "Betty Jane". This is a 2 seater, with dual flight controls.

The F4U Corsair and the AT-6 Texan were not part of the tour. Both are owned by a local businessman. He flies them on special occasions.

    Enjoy!

I bet that was cool. I met my husband while working a project to salvage a B25 Mitchell from Lake Murray in SC. "Our" plane is currently undergoing conservation at the Southern Museum of Flight in Birmingham, AL.

I've always loved those old prop planes. They're not as fast as a jet or a turbo-prop, but you can do your own maintenance and they're amazingly beautiful.

+1 on owning one if I hit the lottery.

Guess what? I took a ride on Witchcraft a year or so ago when they were in NW Louisiana. It was a GREAT experience !

Several years ago I took a ride on a B-17 that lasted about an hour. I actually got about 10 minutes in the left-hand seat to fly it myself. That was a fantastic experience too. By coincidence I was checking out the bombadiers seat in the nose (spectacular view) when the pilot buzzed the field at the same time.

I'm attaching two pictures. The first is a picture of the group that took a ride on the Witchcraft. I was sort of expecting "John Wayne" to be the pilot, but you can see the pilot in my picture wearing a dark colored shirt and blue jeans. BTW the person to the left of the pilot wearing a white cap was actually a tailgunner on a B-24 during WWII. He hadn't seen a B-24 since and he went up for a ride with us.

The second picture. My dad was an aircraft mechanic during WWII and I took him out to look at the planes up close. He didn't care about riding but he enjoyed looking at them and reminiscing. You'd be surprised he still knows a lot about them.

Turn the election's in 2014 to a "2A Revolution". It will serve as a 1994 refresher not to "infringe" on our Second Amendment. We know who they are now.........SEND 'EM HOME. Our success in this will be proportional to how hard we work to make it happen.

Thanks for posting Captain. They used to fly a Mustang at our local airshow before the brilliant mayor of our capital city screwed it up for us. I loved watching it fly.

Man those are some beautiful planes. I love going to air shows where there are WWII warbirds flying and on display.

In all honesty, I think the B-17 is the most beautiful air plane ever built. And I know that isn't what the designers were shooting for but man, that's what they got.

And the B-24 is one mean looking work horse of a bomber. Sad that only one flying example of them is left considering the B-24 was the most produced bomber of WWII.

And the P-51? Well, what needs to be said about a plane that looks like it is moving 400 mph while it is sitting there on the tarmac? It is speed personified.

The F4U is also one seriously tough looking plane and one of the heroes of the Pacific in WWII. I believe the Black Sheep Squadron flew them to great success.

    Thanks for the pics!
