Sometimes with firefox or IE7 I get to a site and my pc freezes, then when it gets back my history is missing. Strange.

Start saving copies of your bookmarks, then (as an HTML file) on your desktop or somewhere besides the Firefox file. I've been on the support forum and others are having the same problem. Mine was just fine too until this afternoon.

use the add-on foxmarks, it keeps a copy of your bookmarks for synchronizing and it works great.

That's happened to me, twice. However, when I type in a few characters in the box, a list of items appears, and often I can get back some sites.
Now I take a pic of my bookmark list every now and again.

I've had to remove and reinstall Firefox a couple of times for issues.

Never had an issue with Firefox, though IE7 would not connect to the internet. Tried to uninstall and re install many times, even went on the web to fing fix's. Loaded Firefox and now I have no probs (Yet)

No problem with Firefox 3.0 here.
