how do you store your guns

I'm concerned about the storage of my guns. I have them cable locked and in a locked box but this is far from a gun safe.

What do you recommend for storage, that the average joe can afford?

Which brands are best and most secure.

    Thanks in advance,

For handguns, check out GunVault. It's reasonably well made. If you take pains to effectively secure it to a wall such that it cannot be pried off, then you've got a fairly secure spot. Though, this assumes BG's won't have hours to attempt the prying (ie, a house alarm).

I have two of these. One for my home office and one for my car. I'll probably buy more as I add guns.

What is the price range you can afford? What kind of storage are you considering? Something dynamic that can be moved around and quickly accessible? Or a big heavy safe for everything?

I consider myself an average joe, but I do some consulting work on the side to fund most of my gun related purchases. My safe was $600, it weighs about 400lbs empty and has a minimal fire rating. I also own a Gunvault that is bolted into a drawer in my bedside table. The Gunvault was about $120.

So for $720 or so I am happy with my current setup. I will be adding one or two COM safes in the near future (about $30 each), and one day I am going to frame a small room in the basement for the safe. I guess that will put me at around $1000 total stretched over a period of a few years.

    Price range

Hi Footslogger, I'm thinking more around the size and price of a gunvault. That seems about the best price, for me. Anything really expensive would go into my safe deposit box at the bank (except for the guns )
