NEW HAVEN, Conn. A New Haven man is recovering after being shot during a robbery, but his life may have been saved by his lunchbox.

Carlos Juarez, 32, was waiting for his ride to work Tuesday morning in his driveway before dawn and two robbers accosted him, demanding money, police said.

Juarez refused the demand and the robbers opened fire.

Juarez said he reflexively held up his lunch cooler over his chest to shield himself from the bullets. The cooler was hit twice.

The gunman kept firing and Juarez was hit twice in the side.

Juarez, who was released from the hospital after treatment, said two bullets remain in his side because doctors were not able to remove them because of swelling.

I'd prefer to shoot back instead of cower behind a lunchbox, but hey, he's still alive.

I rather go for a knockout punch, than to use that caliber.

Surely ya'll know that bologna is bullet-proof.

Poor guy, good for him though, his instincts saved his life.
Turn the election's in 2014 to a "2A Revolution". It will serve as a 1994 refresher not to "infringe" on our Second Amendment. We know who they are now.........SEND 'EM HOME. Our success in this will be proportional to how hard we work to make it happen.

Using your lunch box to deflect the bullets is almost as good as the lawyer hidding behind the tree while the guy kept firing at him but missing him. I guess nobody ever explained the diffrence between consealment and cover.

Maybe he has MRE's in there, I'd put money on them being bullet-proof.

Hope the hospital gave him lunch.
