Ready for next UN bright idea?
How much more interfering can the UN get - one minute they wanna ban guns globally now - they want to control internet - geez. Better not say too much - or self ban will have to be imposed!!
U.N. Wants Control of Internet
As someone who has worked on the Internet since the very first web browsers starting appearing from a research group at the University of Illinois and who has built a web-based political enterprise, I am keenly aware of the power, speed, and freedom of the medium. The Internet has truly transformed the way news is disseminated, broken through the left-leaning mainstream media, and allowed ordinary citizens across the world to have a voice. Now the United Nations, the group that has put Syria on its human rights commission, wants to control it.

The U.N. just plain sucks. They are as bad as a Cali. politician as far as wanting to control everyone, only on a world wide scale.

The REAL ? is>>>> why do the taxpayers of the U.S. of A. put up with so much of their crap. I'd really like some politician to explain to me what the UN does for us middle class taxpayers. We are the strongest nation in the world with the mightiest military. Why do we feel that we need the freakin UN??

Wish I knew!!! Guess it's ''diplomatic'' but sure as heck, I doubt there are any folks here who want that! Maybe too it is a ''legacy'' of times gone by - which is outmoded and outdated.
All I see with the U.N. is interference, meddling and attempts to usurp a great nation's authority. I wish someone could tell me what benefits are acrued from involvement with U.N. - cos damned if I can see any - quite the opposite!

Any conversation about the UN should start with a handful of these:
The internet is the greatest force for individual freedom ever invented...no surprise that the UN wants to control it. Heck, I bet it scares the hell out of lots of our politicians too. They are not able to "shape" the message as easily when both sides of an issue can be presented and discussed immediately.

Hey who cares what the Untied Nitwits thinks.
They are concerned about politics. Let's see, the US company doesn't ban any country, even North Korea, Cuba or any other country the US doesn't like. Does anybody think those Nitwits would do the same.
All they want is the ability to control information and raise money.
Watch out.

Here is an idea - lets see if we can get the UN under the UN's control first. They don't seem to have the slightest grip on, well, pretty much anything.

Heh. I've walked through there a few times. I'd be willing to pay money for a video of some UN folks down there.

That is an old story they have wisely given up on the idea and are continuing on their Disarm the innocent citizen scam instead. I think they thought is would be a money maker for them, but I still say we should be charging them rent on the UN building, parking, property taxes, special assessment fees, charges for additional security, and the fact that they really Pi** me off.

Here is some follow-up!
Just got this info which follows on from original post - emphasis mine. Seems then a lotta young folks have some nieve notion that U.N. is wonderful!!
You can trust me? I?m from the U.N.
Like most people with whom I deal on a daily basis, the thought of the U.N. controlling the Internet was simply too much to comprehend. Readers from across the country registered their dismay and anger over efforts by the hapless and corrupt United Nations to gain authority over the planet?s premier information gathering and sharing mechanism. Despite the well-documented failings and left-leaning tendencies of the U.N.,
it may come as a surprise to some that in a recent survey, college students trusted the U.N. more than the federal government.
