Other folks always do covers of the songs we remember best.

Who remembers what not so talented singer did a cover of 'Flowers on the Wall' in the mid-60's?

    Hint: pink bikini

That was my wife's guess too. It may have been, I was just thinking the voice was deeper than JD's.

Someone over on the 1911Forum a couple weeks ago was asking about PagerPal holsters. Well, one of the responses was .... "What's a pager?" Where'd I put that walker?

Kathy Ireland? Charlise Theron? That's who I think of in pink bikinis.

Darned if I remember who ''sung'' that one! Used to have that on a 7" 45 rpm vinyl!

    Big Bad John

Jimmy Dean. #1 on the charts in 1961. I remember listening to that on AM radio then (I was 13).

My favorite from that era, same year actually, was "Wimoweh" as recorded by The Tokens.

I had a comment, but it was just way too mean. Unfortunately I know what you're going through Euc, at 24 I'm the oldest airman in my shop, hell I'm older then some of the NCO's in my shop (I joined very late). It's amazing the difference six years can make. Sometimes I just want to slap them for some of the stupid things they do...and for the things they don't know about....

And I'm pretty sure Jimmy Dean sang Big Bad John...

I actually became aware of Flowers on The Wall from the Pulp Fiction soundtrack. And that version was done by the Statler Brothers.

I'll tell you how I felt old. I am one of the people who helps run a Jaycee Haunted House in my community, and during last month's event, I was talking to some of the kids there about creature comforts.

One was talking about how his direct TV dish wasn't working right due to something or other, and I began to tell him about how our TV was when I was a kid.

I told him about a mythical time when there was no cable television to be had. How we had four channels from an antenna, and sometimes we had to go into the yard and turn the antenna till we got a good signal.

They just sat there with their mouths open. No one could conceive of such a time. No one could understand how we dealt with life before MTV.

    And I'm just 41.
