Back to the Mainland
I'm currently sitting in my barracks room bouncing off the walls, in a few hours I go to the airport to leave Hawaii and go back to Ohio for the first time since December
. I got to go to California for about 40 days, which just isn't the same, because it was just desert training, and in Cali to boot. So I get twelve days of leave, minus the approximate day I spend flying back and forth, but I still have two weekends in those 12 days. I'm so excited about it, it will be nice to leave this island with it's eternal weather and nowhere to go and go back to the cornfields and summer weather of Ohio with thunderstorms and such, and be able to move more than 10 miles in any direction.
Also all my personal firearms are back there, so I get to go shoot and clean them until they are neglected again for at least 7 months. And a holster rig from UBG is waiting as well. It's like Christmas early for me.
Well, just thought I'd share that since I'm so anxious.

Here's wishing you a great leave. There's no place like home and it looks like Ohio is where your heart is.

Enjoy your leave brother. I was born in Lima, between Dayton and Toledo. Grew up in the hilly part of the state down near Marrietta. I have never been to those islands but I did spend a year on a steal island in the persian gulf in 91 so I know somthing about going stir crazy. So anywho, have fun back home and be safe.-Jay

Yup, the island makes me go stir crazy. They put together Abrams tanks in Lima now if I remember right, usually have some pretty good high school football too.
Ohio is where my friends and family are, it's my release. I put the midwest over pretty much any other region.

Where ya at - Schofield? I was stationed at Pearl for 3yrs back around '79 - '81. I never wanted to leave! I married a woman who was a Hula dancer on those cruise liners.
Take care - enjoy your leave!

That's because you weren't lucky enough to be born in the South, but I can't hold that against you.
Have a great time on leave and spend as much time with the family as you can.

I did a 3-year tour on Oahu back in the 90s myself. Guess I was one of the lucky people who didn't get island fever. If I could afford to live there as a civilian, I would consider going back.
Enjoy your leave!

If they need proper attention 'til your next leave, allow me to offer my assistance.

He's coming from about the one place in the US that will make Ohio in July feel cool and pleasant.

Have a great leave! I lived in the midwest for 15 years, in SD. I wasn't a huge fan, and I wouldn't go back there if someone paid me.

Well, I made it despite not making my first connection, but thats ok, that is why airports have bars.
I'm based in Kaneohe out in Hawaii.
The weather here is nice, the truck is running, and none of the firearms have a spec of dust.
