Alaska Experiment
Any of you yahoos get a casting call email from Discovery for The Alaska Experiment? I would have figured at least someone on here did. Got mine last night. Just wondering if it would be worth the risk of losing one's job for being absent for 3 months if I actually did get picked.
Any thoughts?

I thought it would be an awesome thing to do, and would jump at the chance if my job was the type that I could leave for months and come right back in or find another that is comparable. Good luck!

Since I need my job to support my family and do not have 3 months worth of leave, I couldn't do it.
If I was single, yeah I'd do it in a heartbeat

I haven't seen that one yet. Is it going to be a "Survivor" type show in Alaska?
A few years ago I was sorely tempted to respond to a Baja racing email. That would have been FUN.

Yeah, sort of. They don't play goofy games or anything like that they just chronicle how people get along and survive in the wilderness. Most of them are from the city, and have little experience. Its an interesting show.

Pretty cool show. I haven't seen as many episodes as I would have liked, but I find it interesting.
I would love to give it a shot. But like others, I have job and family commitments.

How much they paying you for the three months?those shows make big bucks off networks so I would think youd be getting some jingle outta it otherwise they could pound sand

I couldn't stand being in close proximity with anybody that I truly didn't like for three months.
I would rather have nobody around me and not see another living soul for three months.

Alaska's an open carry state as far as I know. Might give the TV-producer-from-California a bit of indigestion though.

Well, I sent in my app. We'll see what happens. If it works...great!
If not...guess I don't have to go job hunting again
